I am running a corporate machine using Windows 2000 and Office XP. I am
running queries in Access on an IDS database and once run I am trying to copy
and paste the results of the queries into a spreadsheet in Excel where I do
Pivot Table reports. The number of records is in the 25k to 50k range. When I
run the query in Access it takes a long time and once done, I select all the
records to copy. That takes a long time as well and sometimes it locks up.
But once I select the data and have copied it, I try to paste it into Excel
and then it locks up. I am running Task manager and when I try to copy the
data in Access, it does not eat up all the RAM and CPU. But it maxes out the
RAM when I try to paste it into Excel. It is not the system as a backup
person with a different pc also has the same trouble. Is it a memory issue? I
am using 1GB in RAM on a Pentium 4 machine. (1.8GHz). Is it an issue with the
JET engine? I cannot seem to get a handle on why it locks up just when I try
to paste into Excel. I am very frustrated.
