Importing data from the internet in column format

Up to recently, I was able to cut & paste data from the internet into excel worksheets. (Examples of data; banking information - date, operation type, amount moved.)

When I pasted the data, the columns on the website pasted automatically into columns in Excel. This is no longer the case, all the data copied pastes into one single cell.

Was there an update that changed this? I don't recall having changed any settings.

Quite likely the change took place in an update to your Browser -- the app
you're copying in determines what gets placed on the clipboard.

Have you tried using the Edit> Paste Special options of Excel?

Thanks. That has solved it.

Interestingly enough, I didn't have the same problem using the Apple Spreadsheet, the columns were imported as they appeared on the screen.

Most likely because the app you're pasting *into* determines what of the
available content to use as its default, which is apparently different in
Numbers than what Excel uses... That's why Excel offers such an array of
options in Paste Special.

Anyway, glad it's resolved & thanks for the confirmation :)
