Importing data from Word to Access

I have designed an Access database to collate scores from a monthly
survey that I need to send our custmers.

My proposed solution is to:

1. Generate the surveys in the database
2. Mail Merge to Word Form (protected) and email to clients
3. Clients complete form fields and email back
*** And here's the bit I'm stuck on .......
4. Run an automated process to update the database record with the
scores from the form.

I plan to have a record or "Survey Number" which I will include with
each form. This will allow us to identify the record when the survey
comes back.

Ideally I would like to open the word doc when it returns, then run a
macro to up date the record in the Access DB with the scores.

I'm open to any ideas or suggestions.

Running Word & Access 2003.

If you go to Google Groups and search for
group:microsoft.public.access.externaldata word formfields import
you'll find some useful stuff.

You could also consider using Word's option of saving only the data from the
formfields. This creates a CSV file that Access can import easily. You could
include a macro and a button in the document you distribute, so clicking the
button saves and emails the CSV file to you.
