importing data into MS Project 2003 (tables: msp_web_work and msp_web_assignments)

I am trying to import data into MS project 2003 using a SQL Server dts
package that imports the data directly into the msp_web_transactions
and msp_web_work table. (I am new to MS Project but not SQL Server.)
When I add and publish a task through the GUI interface of MS Project
the rows are inserted into the two mentioned SQL Server tables. However
if I add rows directly into the two tables and try to view them in MS
Project the new tasks are not visible in the MS Project interface. I
have added legitimate data with legitimate resources. Can anyone
advise?

You should ask this question in the developer group at
microsoft.public.project.developer Updating Project Server with foreign data
is not always as easy it appears.
