Importing Data - Menu item is greyed

I have a number of Excel spreadsheet files and I am combining them
using the Data/Import External Data menu. But I've reached a point
where the next menu item Import Data is greyed. I have 1,922 lines in
the file and I know that's not the limit. Can anyone tell me why I
can't continue doing this?
