Importing data to be used in a text field

I'm fairly new to importing data into Visio diagrams, so please bear with me
if my question seems obvious.

I was wondering if it is possible to import data to be used in a text field.
Say for example I have a database that has three fields for the description
of a shape. Is it possible for the three fields to appear as text on the
shape?

Many thanks in advance.

If you have Visio 2007 Professional then this is very easy. You can link
your shapes to rows in a database, which will place the row's entries into
the shape's Shape Data cells. You can then display the fields either as
Data Graphic callouts or you can double click a shape to edit its text and
then select Insert>Field....

If you're using an earlier version of Visio, you can still use
Insert>Field... to get data in a custom property to be displayed in the
shape's text block. However, getting the data from the database into the
custom property is not as easy. The Database Wizard add-on will work, but
it's not nearly as intutitive as the data linking in Visio 2007.
