Importing Data

I am trying to import a text file into Excel X. Some of the fields contain
phone numbers and a label (e.g. Main, Fax). Is there a way to parse the
field so I can eliminate the label and just import the phone number?
Thanks.

If your fields are uniform, you can choose Fixed in the first pane of
the Text Import wizard the click after the phone numbers in the second
pane to separate the numbers from the labels. In the third pane of the
wizard, select the column that has labels and click the Do not import
radio button.

If your fields aren't uniform enough to use Fixed mode, you may be able
to choose Delimited and check the Space checkbox in the 2nd pane of the
wizard to separate phone numbers from labels and proceed as above. Note,
though, that this will separate any words/items that have spaces, too.

If you can't do either, import the file, then select the column of phone
numbers and labels and choose Data/Text to columns. Choose either Fixed
or Delimited mode and again choose Do not import for the label column.
