Importing dbx from hard drive with corrupt operating system

I have a hard drive with a corrupt operating system. I'm able to slave the
drive to another computer and see the dbx files from Outlook Express. The new
computer this needs to be imported to is Windows 7 with Outlook 2007. How do
I manage this?

Copy ALL the dbx files to a folder in your Documents. Include the file
called Folders.dbx or Outlook won't see it as an OE message store.
Then in Outlook do File-Import and Export-Import Internet Mail

you'll need to configure windows live mail on the computer, import the dbx
files then export to Outlook.

My Outlook doesn't find the DBX files that are not associated with a mail
client... but even if it did, wouldn't the dates be messed up like they are
when you import directly from OE?

Live Mail can be pointed to the folder where the DBX files are and imports
them.

yes I thought about that - but as Outlook has an OE import function I
thought that it might import direct from a message store - it would have
saved the OP doing it twice!

Oh. I thought this was something you had tried and it worked. It certainly
would be nice to be able to skip a step - but unfortunately you can't, at
least not without buying a utility that imports the data.

Sorry, no. Outlook cannot import an OE database directly. It must be
configured into OE or Windows Mail (perhaps Windows Live Mail can be used
too), then Outlook can get at it through procedure calls to OE directly.
