importing drawing and backgrounds in Visio 2000

I have created drawings with background in Visio 2000. I have used the Sized
to fit drawing option to eliminate any unnecessary white space, but when I
import the drawing into a document, I get only the drawing and not the
background.

Try File/Page setup/Page Properties/Background
Pull down the background menu and select the background you want to attached
to your page.

Maryg:
I misspoke after misreading your question. I tried to duplicate your
problem and came up with a solution that may not be the best one, but will
work. You will need to create a new background (BG) page in the new
document, block and copy the original BG into the new BG. Then, do the steps
in my first response to you.

I did some extensive exploration on my own and realized that I need to
create the background as a layer. When the graphic is saved, it will then
save both the foreground and the background. The foreground and background
must have the same paper orientation and size.
