Importing Email addresses from a CSV file

I have successfully imported my contacts from a csv file
however only some of my email addresses crossed over. The
majority of the address prompted an error message that
this is a non-internet email address and the file will be
imported without the email field. They are all standard
email adresses, nothing strange about them. Is there any
reason this would be happening and what can I do to fix
it?
