Importing Eudora Addresses into Outlook does not work

I noticed other users on this list with the same issue...

I have attempted to import my Eudora 6.1 addresses and email into Outlook, using the "import export" option in Outlook, checking the boxes "import mail" "iimport address book" with Eudora light and pro also selected. I receive the following message "The mail folder could not be opened. if another program is using .... close it".

1. no other programs were running
2. I tried the suggested options of copying the eudora email files ( .toc and .txt) into the folder where eudora.exe was located. I also tried this with the nickname (i.e. email address) files. The same result. The import failded and returned the same message.

Any suggestions? As noted earlier, seems other users have faced the same problem and I have not seen any solution. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,
Carleton

I get my address in Eudora imported by Outlook Express,
then export from Outlook Express to Outlook, then even u
use a very old version Outlook, mine is only Outlook 97,
can still import all the address.

I got Eudora Pro 6.1.2 addresses into Outlook 2003 by putting all Eudora
program folder files and subfiles, except Eudora.exe, into a temporary
subfolder (e.g., "Other Eudora stuff"). Then I dragged all the files and
mailbox subfolders of the Eudora data folder (Inbox, Outbox, etc.) into the
Eudora program folder with Eudora.exe and the "Other Eudora stuff" folder. I
then ran the Outlook import for Eudora. After importing, you can easily drag
the data files back to the data folder, and drag the program files and
subfolders out of the "Other Eudora stuff" folder.
