importing excel file

Rosson Cain

Hello. I am trying to import an excel file to and Access
data base but I keep on getting this error: "Type
Conversion Failure" I have tried converting the cells to
text, etc. and nothing seems to work. Another
complication that may arise may be that the cells always
need to be of the format "0000" Any help would be
appreciated.

Hi Rosson,

Are you are importing to an existing Access table? If so, import to a
new table and then use an Append query to move the data to the existing
table; you can then if necessary use type-conversion functions in the
query.

Another technique is to export from Excel to a text (CSV) file and
import this file into Access.

If neither of these succeeds, please post back here with more
information on what you are doing and the data in the Excel worksheet.

In Excel, do File|Save As... and in the Save As Type dropdown select
"CSV(Comma Delimited)".
