Hi,

My name is Amy Vargo. Thank you for using the Microsoft Access Newsgroups.
It sounds like the Excel and Text ISAM drivers are not registered properly.
If any ISAM drivers are not registered properly (mstext35.dll, msexcl35.dll)
you will need to register those files so they will appear in the Files of
Type
list.

To register these files, open two Find windows. Search for
REGSVR32.EXE and MSTEXT35.DLL. Align both Find windows side-by-side and
drag the icon for each MSTEXT35.DLL file ontop of the icon for REGSVR32.EXE
in C:\Windows\System. Follow the same procedure to register
MSEXCL35.DLL.

Both files should register successfully. Then open Microsoft Access and
try to import/export/link and both file types should now appear in the list.

For more information about this error, please review the following article:

Q171955 ACC97: Certain ISAM Drivers Not Appearing in Files Of Type Box

I hope this helps! If you have additional questions on this topic, please
respond back to this posting.

Hi Nigel,

If the import/export wizards don't work at all, re-register ACCWIZ.DLL

If it's one or more file formats that aren't listed, re-register the
following files
msexcl40.dll (Excel)
msxbse40.dll (dBase)
mspdox40.dll (Paradox)
mstext40.dll (Text, CSV, tab-delimited))
In Access 97, the filenames contain 35 instead of 40.

To re-register a DLL file,

1) Locate it (usually all these are in the Windows\System32 or
WINNT\System32 folder.

2) Locate the file regsvr32.exe.

3) Drag the DLL file's icon onto the regsvr32.exe icon.

These problems are discussed in the following MS Knowledgebase articles
among others:

or for Access 2002
