importing existing slides into presentations

I am workining with Powerpoint 2000. I have a whole
bunch of individual presentations that I use a lot in
different presentations. Unfortunately, I can't import
them and keep all of the formatting that they had. How
do I fix that? The crazy thing is that some
presentations that I import keep all their formatting,
while others just take on the formatting of the master
slide. I looked for help in the powerpoint section of
microsoft. The two that looked like they could help me

box that they are telling me to use. Thanx for your time.
