Importing/exporting Tables From/To Txt/xls

Hi All,


We are doing a JD Edwards roll out. The systems are running W2k with Office
XP, SP2.
One of our consultants is trying to Import/Export from Excel XP-Access XP
into a text file and vice versa. In the drop down menu under export, she
does not get txt or xls as a choice. I tried removing OXP with Office 2003
Office Resource Kit. I then reinstalled OXP and used Complete as my choice
which did not do me any good.

How could I get her to have those Import/Export Options?

Hi.

The consultant will probably need to edit the Windows Registry to include
the list of ISAM drivers. Please see the Microsoft KB article on the

Ken Snell's response to a very similar question yesterday:

Re-register the following files:
msexcl40.dll (Excel)
msxbse40.dll (dBase)
mspdox40.dll (Paradox)
mstext40.dll (Text, CSV, tab-delimited))
In Access 97, the filenames contain 35 instead of 40.

To re-register a DLL file,

1) Locate it (usually all these are in the Windows\System32 or
WINNT\System32 folder.

2) Locate the file regsvr32.exe.

3) Drag the DLL file's icon onto the regsvr32.exe icon.

Or run from Start | Run window:
Regsvr32 "path\msexcl40.DLL"

Thanks for adding that information, George. I give the advice so often to
try re-registering the libraries, but I didn't realize I'd forgotten to paste
in the instructions in my earlier message.

Gentlemen,


Thank you for both posts and so quickly too. Camaro, my consultant had
found the KB article you had found, but I could not figure out how to get it
to work.
George, your insite helped me figure it out and saved the Free World as we
know it. I work for a medical advertising agency so people here feel they
have the right/need to be more dramatic than necessary.
