Using Internet Explorer 7, I was able to import web data into my excel
spreadsheets.

Now that I have upgraded to Internet Explorer 8, it no longer works.

I’ve googled around but found no answer.

Anyone has a solution for this?

Thanks

Hi Don:

What it does is that it imports the source code of the page I'm trying
to import instead of the page content itself.

When I revert back to IE7, the problem goes away.

I'm using a new Dell laptop which I just bought.

For some reason, it say on top "Internet Explorer provided by Dell".
My old computer did not have that message.

Thanks

Let's try again. Tell me exactly, step by step, what you do...

Here is my query:

With ActiveSheet.QueryTables.Add(Connection:= _
"FINDER;http://www.google.com/search?q="GDP+per+head+(US
%24%3B%22+site:economist.com/countries&filter=0" _
, Destination:=Range("A1"))

Using Internet Explorer 7.0, it grabs the data of the actual webpage
(not the html code or the page source code) and allows me to import it
as text.

Using Internet Explorer 8.0, it grabs the page’s html source code
instead.

I’ve uploaded a gif file which you can view at

If you want, I can revert to Explorer 7.0 and show you what it should
look but I cannot do it right at the moment.

Thanks

Hi Don:

It solves.

What puzzles me is that for people not using vba and selecting
“importing external data” from an excel worksheet; they will not
obtain the desired results with IE8.0.

How can Microsoft have missed that!

Thanks again.
