Importing files into another file

Hi,

Thanks to the help of this forum my MSc dissertation is nearly completed and I am now trying to combine chapters to make up a single document. Here I have a problem.

I am trying to import a 10MB file which contains all of my data (the size is due to lots of figures which are graphs saved out of Excel as png format) into Word file. However this hugs file is inserted but not all the figures appear. When the space where the figure should be is clicked a border appears around the space as if the image was blank but there.

I am lost as to why the inserted document does not display everything because the figures are present when viewing the document independently. What is wrong? How do I get around this please.

Thank you,

Simon

Hi Simon:

First have a quick check in the destination document to ensure that
Word>Preferences>View to make sure that Image placeholders is OFF and
Drawings is ON.

Then look to see how much free memory you have on the system. It may help
to stop (quit, not minimise...) other applications when you are working on
this document.

Word will suppress the display of pictures when it starts to run out of
memory.

If these do not help, come back and we'll talk you through some advanced
manoeuvres to get that thing working.

Cheers
