Importing flat file into excel-sign and decimal problems

I'm trying to import a flat file into excel, but am having problems because
of the way my flat file displays a currency value.

example

12345+ (actual number value is 123.45)
56789- (actual number value is 567.89)

I've tried turning on the fixed decimal place =2, but it doesn't work on the
data that is being imported. Only on manual entered numbers.

Also, the + sign is giving me problems. The text import wizard allow the
trailing minus for negative numbers, but doesn't address the plus.
Therefore, my positive numbers are coming in as text.

Any suggestions without retyping the numbers?
