Mike,

Thanks for the prompt reply. however, problem still exists.

I have tried importing these Excel sppreadsheets on 2 separate computers and
get the same replies. I import 12 excel spreadsheets weekly using same map. 7
of them imported with no problem; the other 5 came up with this error
message. A relatively close inspection of the data in project appears to show
that the data imported properly. but I am a bit skeptical due to the presence
of this error message.

Any other suggestions?

Mike,

I saved the problematic Excel files as version 95 and they imported without
an error. the minute I resaved them as 2003, the error reappeared!

Hello Bendinblues,

Try changing your legacy file settings. On the Tools > Options,
Security tab -- set the legacy setting to "allow".

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Julie,

Thanks for your reply.

Project is already setup to allow loading of legacy files or files with
non-default formats.

This error is really baffling me. i even tried deleting some of the tabs in
the workbooks before importing thinking that reducing the size of the
workbook might complete the import without the error.

I could use more suggestions if you can muster them!

Hi Bendin,

If you are able to import seven files without trouble but 5 with
trouble, are there differences between the Excel files? Sometime
ago, I remember a problem with spaces or punctuation in the sheet
tab names causing some trouble. Is it possible that the 5 errant
files have a difference in sheet tabs?
