importing from spreadsheet

Hi,
I am trying to import an excel sheet to access. After I
hit the button, to finish the import, access is giving the
following "Import Spreadsheet Wizard" message.
"An error occurred trying to import file 'filename.xls.
The file was not imported".
I deleted the "." And "(", and ")" in the field names. But
still giving the same error. Could somebody point me to
possible error cause?
