Importing HP2000 files into Publisher 2007

Hi, how do you import/open Home Publisher 2000 files into Publisher 2007? The
help files say files from earlier versions can be imported to 2007, but I
haven't been able to find the specific instructions. Many thanks.

If I right click on a 2000 file and choose "open", it of course opens in
2000. If I choose "open with-Microsoft Office Publisher", Publisher 2007
opens and then the following box pops up "Microsoft Office Publisher - There
is not enough memory to convert the text formatting. Windows is low on
memory. Save your work and close other programs to free up memory, and then
try again." I have 2Gb of memory.

==================================
Though the names are similar...MS Home
Publishing and MS Publisher are very different
apps. The .php files from Home Publishing are
*not compatible* with any version of MS Publisher.

MS Home Publishing .php files are compatible
with all MS Picture It! / MS Digital Image programs.

The MS Picture It! / MS Digital Image line of
products has been discontinued but the last
version "Microsoft Digital Image Suite 2006
Anniversary Edition" may still be found at some
retail stores...and possibly on Amazon or eBay.

There's a 60 day trial version available for
download if you would like to give it a try:

Microsoft Digital Image
Starter Edition 2006
http://tinyurl.com/28loxr
(this product line has been
discontinued but you can still
download the Starter Version
and run it for 60 days)

Unlike the retail version...the trial does not
have the ability to create VCDs and it does
not include the clipart and pre-formatted
projects.

Can't be done. As John says there are two completely different programs. You
can try opening the Home Publisher program, select all, copy, and paste it
into Publisher. It may or may not work the way you hope.

Hi JoAnn,

If you open both programs...you could do a
select all/copy/paste into Publisher but all you
will get is an image...not an editable layered
project.

Opening a Home Publishing .php file in Picture
It!/ Digital Image will result in an editable project.

I know but I thought that at least the OP could get the image in
Publisher and I did say that it may or may not suit his needs.

Thanks to you both. I had tried copy/paste, which worked, to the extent that
you mentioned. But I was hoping for it to be editable. Not a great problem,
I'll just have to keep HP on the system until I get around to recreating the
documents in Publisher.
Thanks again.
Graham.

You're welcome...

Thanks for the feedback

I still recommend MS Digital Image...I think
you might find it to be quite useful.
