importing into One Note

Michael

I have office 2003 Student and Teacher edition.
I bought One Note because I'm a student trying to organize my notes.
I have four folders of class notes with hundreds of files in them ... but
they are all in Word 2003 (just got One Note)

my question is, is there way I can import the Word 2003 documents into One
after setting up folders and sections and all that stuff ...

please help!!!
Thank you, Michael

Michael,

I think you are asking if there is any *easy, all-in-one* way to do
it.

To the best of my knowledge the answer, unfortunately, is "No".

One thing I would suggest if you are going to do this manually is to
think carefully about the OneNote folder, section, page structure that
you create. If you have hundreds of files then rearranging folders and
sections in OneNote after you start won't be easy.

Also if you do decide to copy and paste whole Word documents (Yes I am
sure that isn't an inviting prospect) then Ctrl+A to select all,
Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to paste will probably be much quicker than
lots and lots of dragging of the mouse.

As a quick followup; If you wanted to make OneNote the primary system
used for notes organization, then I'd do as Andrew suggested (figger out
the folder/section/page layout) then start taking notes using that
layout. Once the layout works for your way of working, then start to
import other documents.

But not all at once!

Continue to use the built-in search features of Explorer to find Office
documents you want. As you use them, then import into your OneNote
hierarchy and delete from the HD.

You'll find over time that this huge pile of files that you absolutely
need to reference will naturally get smaller (i.e. the files that you
*really* need are already in OneNote and what's left might not have been
very important.
