Importing Messages from Outlook Express

I have run the import from Outlook 2003 as well as the export from Outlook
Express 6. Each time I try it fails with a message to the effect of you have
run out of space. Outlook 2003 is capable of holding 20GB where Outlook
Express 6 is only capable of holding 2GB. How do I force Outlok 2003 to use
the larger file format and succefully import my users very large number of
Outlook Express messages?

Posting the entire error message would certainly help. "Out of space"
errors don't always mean you've run out of space.

storing its messages" and once this is done how do I succesfully import over
2GB of messages into it.

My user is using Outlook now. We have bypassed the problem by not importing
some of the folders for now, but I still need to find a way to finish the job.

I guess another way to look at this from my point of view is to find out
what would happen if my user compacted her messages in Outlook Express first.
I think this is at least part of the problem, but I have been leary of
attempting this because I don't want to wipe out any of her messages.

Create a Unicode PST in Outlook, make it the delivery location, then export
the messages from Outlook Express.

Great! Thanks! Now after doing this I cannot always see what was imported.
Sometimes the inbox shows nothing in it at all and sometimes it shows me the
mail. Other folders seem to be doing the same thing. Is there something
else I am missing?

You'll have to be more explicit. What do you do between when you don't see
them and when you do?

Brian,

When the user opens Outlook and clicks the Inbox the inbox is blank. When
an email is received you can see the pop-up icon in the system tray and the
email in the Inbox for a short time. It seems to me that it probably
disappears about the time it would be marked as read.

Clear and filters you may have on the Inbox and reset the view to its
default.

This seems to have fixed itself, however I still have one problem.

While trying to figure out the correct way to move her files from OE to
Outlook she was using Outlook because OE would not allow her to download any
more without deleting some first.

Before trying to migrate to this new data file I had her export each folder
she had been using the last couple of months in case of problems. Now when
we try to import the items from the deleted items that we exported it does
not import anything. Even when we allow duplicates it imports nothing.
There is a gap in her deleted items from 2/10/2007 to 4/2/2007.

I looked to see if she had accidentally checked automatically delete when
closing, but it is not checked and if it had been, there would be no files at
all.

What could cause this aside from the obvious "no files in the export".

Export the data from Outlook Express to Outlook without downloading
anything. Then delete what's in OE, download the rest, and export that.

Why would you want to transfer the Deleted Items? It's trash, after all, or
it wouldn;t be in that folder.

Describe the export process you're using.
