Importing mpp files that use different Calendar

Hi

I am in the process of setting up a 2003 Project Server. Just wondering if
there is an easy way of importing mpp files that use both a different
Calendar and different working times to that on the server. All the mpp files
use the Project defaults, where as on the server we have configured the
working times and Calendars to match our organisation's needs.

When I import files at present all the dates and durations change.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

you can enable the option "Allow projects to use local base calendars." und
Admin/Server configuration:

http://computer/projectserver/Admin/sec_organization.asp?_oid=-1

If you have done so you can still use the same calendars as before. If
you're managing absence time with these calendars I suggest using a
dedicated absence project.

Kind regards,

Renke

Thanks for that Renke,

The only problem is that I don't want them to use their original calendar,
but the one set up in the global template with the correct times. So I
probably need some kind of conversion tool, as naturally the times will be
different. (one day will be 7.25 hrs rather than the default 8) There isn't
a huge amount of info on the plans, so even if I got a consistent, Start
Date, Finish Date and duration, it would do fine. There are currently no
resources allocated to the plans but there is tracking.

Regards

Robin
