Importing multiple folder/html files problem

I'm stumped. I'm working on a project in which I must import 10 directories
each containing 100's of generic html pages then drag them to the navigation
structure. The directories will be children to a parent page that I've
already created for each category, with it's navigation structure as the
content along with a searchbox. (nested hierarchy)

Is there an easy way to add over 1000 pages into navigation view under each
parent? Every time I try to drag them to navigation view FP2003 freezes up
(I've got lots of resources). Also, should I convert the html pages to htm
before importing? I've had to start again twice ... it totally screwed up
the web when refreshed. This is a challenging problem. Anyone have any
fresh ideas?

Thanks & cheers:

File Import your folders 1st
- run a Tool Recalculate Hyperlinks
Then drag the files 1 (or several) at a time from Folder List to Nav View
- it makes no difference if they are .htm or .html
