you need to open the backup pst file in outlook then go to windows mail
and
import it. But, the import process do not affect the contents of the pst,
so
I'm not sure why you need to restore the backup pst.

Thanks for your reply. I have in fact done as you suggest, which is to
import
from Windows mail. I was wondering if it can be done the other way? is
there
a way to restore from backup, as I have a backup set of the *.pst
files.
Will
windows mail be able to read this back up, or should I restore in
outlook
first. As I said, all the stuff is there and visible in outlook, but
not
in
the inbox folder. Can i migrate from other folders into inbox?
Any helpful suggestion is appreciated.
:
Are you exporting from Outlook or importing from Mail? Try doing it
from
Mail's File, Import/Export menu.

I have attempted to import the email files *.pst to windows mail,
and I
am
only getting empty folders. What's can possibly be wrong?
After uninstalling outlook from system running Vista Home Premium, I
recognized that I had lost access to the email. So after renaming
the
files
still in the computer, I was able to reinstall outlook 2003 and
recover
all
the old files. But when I try to import those files in Windows Mail,
I
get
a
bunch of empty folders. What can you suggest if anything?
.
