Importing Outlook .pst Files From a Floppy...

I'm using Office 2003 on the XP OS on a 900MHz Sony VAIO
Laptop.
Knowing that I would have to completely reformat my HD I
saved all of my contacts, e-mails, notes, etc on a floppy
disc in .pst format. I have done this before with
positive results in both the saving and the re-entry of
the saved data. However, now when I try to import them
back in, I get a message telling me that some of the
language translations may suffer because the file is in
unicode. I gives me the option to proceed anyway and when
I do, nothing is transferred. I have gone into the
properties section of the saved data and noticed that
the 'archived' box is checked. I have tried all of the
possibilities but with no positive results. Is there some
way that I may rescue this data and re-enter it into my
Outlook personal files? If not, is there a way to open
the file to a readable state and copy the info back into
Outlook?

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Sincerely,

Hi Diane,

Thanks for responding. I tried copying the .pst file to
the desktop and then file/open/desktop/outlook backup.
All I get is a switch in the interface to find it
completey empty (contacts, mail, etc)

The file itself is 265K. Does that appear to be large
enough to hold about 100 contacts, a lot of mail and
calander settings? Perhaps it malfunctioned when I copied
it to the floppy originally or maybe I just screwed up.

If I try to open it on another computer with Office 2003
will it be possible to open it there? At least that way I
might have some options.

Thanks again,

Den Gleason
-----Original Message-----
what happens if you copy the pst to the hard drive and open it using file,
open, outlook data file? Move or copy the items to the new pst.
