importing pdf files into word 2008, highlights not shown

I'm importing pdfs into Word 2008(student & teacher ed) and the pdfs have ovals added to them to highlight important areas. These added ovals don't show up in Word. I've changed their color, tried adding them in Acrobat 7.0 and Preview 4.1 (mac OS 10.5.2) but no difference. They show up fine in Acrobat and Preview but not in Word. Help.

Hi John:

Anything you "add" to a PDF can be in the form of a 'comment', not part of
the PDF code. If it is, Word won't receive it, it's "private" and saved
outside of the PDF code by Adobe Reader.

You need to EDIT the PDF using the full version of Adobe Acrobat, add your
highlights, then SAVE the result as a new PDF.

The naming is a bit confusing: "Reader" is the free one that you can
display and annotate PDF with; "Acrobat" is the paid-for version that
enables you to actually edit a PDF. Sadly, Adobe is not going to give you
editing ability without you give them money :)

Hope this helps
