Importing Preferences from X to 2004

I fear you are doomed to resetting the checkboxes--don't forget the ones in
the Tools | AutoCorrect dialog, which are also held in the prefs file.

This might help: I go through the Word 2004 settings, with recommendations,
in some notes on the way I use Word for the Mac, titled "Bend Word to Your

Effectively, "No".

Because they're different programs, they have different preferences. So the
preference files stored for one will not fit the other.

There are laborious ways you could go about exchanging preferences between
the two. But it's a hell of a lot quicker to re-create them.
