Importing .PST into Outlook Internet configuration

Can the data from a *.PST based Outlook configuration be ported to a *.FAV
based Outlook configuration? I am only using POP3 based mail, and when I
rebuild my system, I want to install Outlook with a smaller footprint. I
want to retain all folders and their contents, all accounts, Rule Wizard
rules, address books, etc.

Of course not.
Why would you use a FAV file?

If you tell the setup wizard that your only mail server is POP3, then it
creates a .FAV file, but no .PST file. I will check out your links to get
a better understanding.

Not so. PST files are always created when you use Internet mail accounts.
What makes you think otherwise?

Russ,

Thank you for the references. The most useful was the slipstick.com,
which described each of the Outlook-related files.

My reference to the FAV file was emperical, and I see now that it is only
related to the Outlook shortcut bar. When I configured Outlook for
Internet Mail Only, it did not generate a .PST file; it only generated a
..FAV file. When I reconfigured it for additional services, then it
generated a .PST file.

Take a look at these pages for info on Outlook data backup or transfer:

When the PST file is created will depend on your version and mail support
mode.
