Importing .pst

I followed the directions as I understood them to restore Outlook after a
hard drive failure.

I removed Outlook backup from the stick and saved it to a folder in
Documents ... In Outlook I went >File >Data Management and added the backup
and then made it the default. All messages and folders arrived just fine,
however, my rules didn't make it. Also, I obtained a new set of Personal
Folders (Deleted Items, Drafts, Inbox, Infected Items, Junk E-mail, Outbox,
RSS Feeds, Sent Items, and Search Folders) ... it is okay to delete this
second set without getting myself into trouble?

First detach the extra pst-file from Outlook via File-> Data File
Management...
After this, you can decide to delete the corresponding file as well.

Your rules should have remained intact, in the method used ( I might be
wrong but I dont believe the location of the pst impacts)

Select the non-default and choose Remove to remove it from your mail profile
and, hence, from Outlook. Your default PST is your delivery location; i.e.,
where your new incoming messages will be delivered, where new calendar entries
will be created, and so on. It's not typical for a person to name the file so
it contains the word "backup", however.

That worked beautifully. Don't suppose I can change the name to just
outlook.pst without messing things up ... should I worry about it?

Close Outlook. Rename the PST (to whatever you like, but keeping the ".pst"
file type) using Windows Explorer. Start Outlook. It will complain that it
can't find its folders and open a browsing window. Browse to the renamed PST,
select it, and click OK. You'll be back to normal.
