Importing ref list to citation manager?

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

Is there a way to import a ref list from an external source (e.g an output from RefWorks etc.) to Word 2008 and it's citation manager? Or do I need to type each one in by hand if I don't want to use something like EndNote?
