importing tables into Access, why can't I adjust field options

When importing tables into Access, as I go through the wizard, I come to a
screen that supposedly allows you to click on the field name, indicate
whether the field is indexed and allows or not allows repeats, and skip the
field altogther. I can't get anything to take after the first column. If I
try to change any properties in the field option box, it applies it to the
first column only. Is this a glitch or is there a keystroke that makes it
work? I'm using Access 2003.

Hi Eduman,

You don't say so, but I presume you're importing data from text files.

As far as I can remember the problem you describe existed in the
original version of Access 2003 and was fixed in a service pack. Have
you installed the current service packs?

Apparently not. I'll have to get with my IT department as they have blocked
us from downloading or installing any software.
