Importing Text Document & Memo Fields

I'm trying to import a tab delimited text file and one of the fields is
approx. 2000 characters in length ... when importing this into access it
truncates the field down to approx 240 charachers per record ... I need to
know how to get the full 2000 characters imported for the file. I've tried
the memo field setting and it really doesn't work.
