importing to Outlook/contacts, calendar ?

All of my contacts, calendar, inbox...etc. were saved as
this file: Microsoft Excel Comma Separated Values File.
Tried to import to those same things and import was
unsucessful? Should I rename the file? If so, to what?
Or is there another preferred method? Thanks for the
advise. LeAnn
