Importing Units Destroys Task Links

Doug

I am importing a project from MS Access. The map readily imports Task data -
including the links. However, upon running the Wizard to update units in the
assignments table, the Wizard not only fails to update the units, it destroys
my predecessor/successor relationships.

I've checked the usual suspects--things like data types--and even tried
exporting a manually-generated project and importing it under a new project.

The thing that's most perplexing about this is that from my understanding of
MS Project, I'm dealing with generally unrelated data in separate tables.

Any guidance would be most appreciated. I have a client waiting on the
results!

Regards,
Doug

Doug,

What version of Project? Project 2007 had a bug as you describe
that I believe was fixed by installing the Infrastructure Update.
See:

or search the web for "KB951547".

As an aside, assignment data is related to task data. I also
suggest double checking specifically what data you are importing and
checking your merge fields. You should attempt to match by
assignment unique ID to update assignment data.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
