Importing Visio files to Word

Kevin

I'm new to Visio and somewhat new to Word (I'm using Word 2000 and Visio Professional 5.0a). Do I have to save the Visio file to, for exmaple, a .gif file, before I can import it to Word? I was hoping that I could import the .vsd file and if it needed editing, I would be able to open it in Word and the Visio editor would be displayed. Thanks very much for your help.

Kevin: All you have to do is open the Visio file, select all (CTRL +A), and copy. Go to the Word file, select Edit, Paste Special, and Paste as a Microsoft Visio Drawing Object ... Word knows what you're trying to paste. You'll then be able to edit your drawing in Word or open your drawing into Visio. There's no need to save the Visio file separately. Good luck!

I also tried your solution, but the text was all squished together in the
flowchart boxes when viewed in Word.

Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Holly
