Importing web site

When I attempt to import an active web site everything downloads to my hard
drive except the image files. I check the properties of the images, and they
are still located on the remote server. Is there a way to download the images
with the web site? FrontPage slows down quite a bit because it's continually
updating the images from the server as I scroll.

Also, the links no longer link to the proper destinations. Is this normal
when importing?

just open your site live and publish it back to your computer.

in FrontPage:
file/ open web (or open site in fp 2003). type in the http:// address of
your live site when it opens hit file/ publish and browse to a suitable
location on your local machine.
when you publish this way you'll get everything.

Does that site need FP extensions enabled to do this?

I believe so. I think, though I've never tried it, that you can do similar
with an ftp:// address in FrontPage.

You can only open the site on a remote server if the server has the FP extensions.

As far as I am aware, no. If the site has the FP extensions, you would always open and publish. If
the site doesn't have the FP extensions, download the site to folder on your HD with a FTP
application, then open the folder via FP and let it make it a web, then you can publish it to its
final location on your local system. If FP components, such as theme, shared borders, Include page,
navigation, etc. were used, and the site was publish to the server without extensions, these items
would have to be done.

Note: The _vti folders are never published by FP between locations or when publishing via FTP.

Well, I guess I'll have to FTP everything because the web doesn't have FP
extensions.
