Importing Windows mail into Outlook 2003

I just installed Outlook 2003 on my Vista computer. It found that I had
Outlook Express and ask if I wanted to upgrade, I said yes. Once it was
finished my messages were gone. I went through the steps to import form
Outlook express but Outlook express is gone. My former Outlook express is now
Windows mail and the messages are in .eml format. When I try to export into
exchange I get the error occured initalizing MAPI. I have been searching post
for about an hour and nothing seems to work.

Err Vista has ALWAYS had Windows Mail and NOT "Outlook Express". OE will not
even INSTALL on Vista...
