Importing WORD Documents

Dawky

I have a new DELL computer with W-Vista. I offloaded all my WORD-2007
documents and folders from W-XP onto a flash drive. How do I get all these
documents and folders (about 350) into WORD-2007 on my new computer with
Vista?

Hi Dawky,

Simply copy the files from your flash drive to wherever you want them on the new PC.

I have encountered the same problem - simply copying the files from the Flash
drive into the Vista equivalent of the XP My Documents folder results in
Vista denying access to the copied files because "you are not the owner".
This is not a Word issue but a Windows Vista issue.

Perhaps the solution could be to use the Windows Vista file transfer tool.
It requires you to run a tool on the XP PC to export your files to the Flash
drive then use the Vista version of the tool to import the files. This
preserves the ownership of the files and should work OK with most My Document
type files including Word documents.
