Importing XLS spreadsheet into access database

Hi,

I am trying to import an xls spreadsheet into an
access 97 database but i am not getting the option for
a .xls file type in the dropdown at the bottom left hand
side of the window. I have tried running the dataaccess
program from the valuepack found on the disk.

HELP!!!!
