Impossible Problem...

Okay... I have a problem that I think is impossible to solve:

I have text written over 4 horizontally merged cells (a short paragraph of
4-5 sentences). When I view them in "normal" view, they looked fine (text
wrapped, left aligned, etc.). However, When I print the worksheet out, the
text is formatted improperly: it is centered and half of the text can't be
seen. Help!

What's frustrating is the spreadsheet looks one way on the computer and

Larry,
It certainly IS frustrating. Don't see any excel-lent way around it. A
cheat would be to take a screenshot (or more than 1 if needed) and
pretty it up with Photoshop or whatever.
One odd thing: checking the cell formatting with Format > Cells...
shows that it is in General format, but the Sample box shows a string
of # signs (it would normally show the text itself. Then, when I tried
to format the problem cell as "text", the cell shows a string of #
signs.
Maybe there's some sort of corruption in the file. :-(
Why not try copying the text (not the formats) of the cells to a blank
sheet and redo the formatting? If you use Styles, it might not be too
terribly tedious.

Larry,
I just noticed that you also have a column F that is hidden. Maybe
this screws things up?

It appears to be corruption in the sheet - specifically with those cells.
Merging cells can cause problems & that may be the case here.

I copied the content & pasted to a different sheet in the same book - had to
do some reformatting (mostly row height) but the print problem was resolved.

I believe that's simply because of the amount of content in the merged
cells. The #'s show up if the cell contains more than 255 characters. Oddly
enough, if you select Number or Currency - anything but General, Accounting
or Text - the actual text content displays.
