Impossible to run office 2000 french on terminal server (English) help

D

David M.

Hi everybody,

I need to install Office 2k Professional SR1 French on terminal
servers.
I used The CD to do the installation, I don't have a .MSI package

My terminal servers run on Windows 2000 Advanced server SP4 English in
Applications Mode. And of course using administrative rights to do the
installation.

I use Office 2000 File and Registry Eraser Utility to wipe old office
files so I don't think It could be a reason.

I use the termsrvr.mst for the English version of office 2000. It
works fine. Then I try to install the French version.

I repackage the termsrvr.mst as said in the MKB to support French
installation, applying settings as "run from my computer" or "Not
available" and save it under an other name : termsrvr_fr.mst.

After that I run the Add/Remove programs to install office on my
terminal servers with the command d:\INSTALL.EXE
transforms=C:\termsrvr_fr.mst.
The installation works well, no errors, no warnings nothing, no event
logs but office doesn't ask the CD Key (I need to enter the CD on my
version). When I execute Word or any office applications nothing
happens. So I think that was because I don't give the serial key.

I uninstall Office and find a command allowing to force the serial
key.
So I reinstall office with that new command : D:\INSTALL.EXE
PIDKEY="xxxxxxxxx" transforms=C:termsrvr_fr.mst.
This time, the installation occurs the same : no errors, no warnings,
no event logs but office asks me the CD Key.
I try to open Word, nothing happens. I just see during a very short
moment the sand glass and nothing else.

Do I something wrong or forget something ?? Does somebody know a
solution or a work-around.

Thx a lot for the answers and have a nice day

Dave M
