I needed to archive my outlook mail because I was getting messages from the
network administrator who was about to delete my outlook mail. I got on
outlook help to learn to do this, and they made me take a 30-45 minute
course. This is time wasting for me, a user, and I'm sure for many others as
well. If Microsoft cares at all about their customers, they'll improve this
situation.
The "File or archive your e-mail on your own computer" course should be
replaced with this 106 word explaination (1 minute, not 30-45 minutes):
File or archive your e-mail on your own computer
From the outlook screen select:
File – New - Outlook data file
Types of storage: select Office Outlook Personal Folders File (.pst)
Name the file, and select a location for it (in the “Save In:†box).
You'll be given the opportunity to encrypt and/or password protect the file.
When you're done, the folder will appear on the outlook screen as a mail
folder.
You can move mail there (which will get it off the server), and you can view
the
mail you have stored there just as you do with the mail folders that are on
the
server.
