In 2004 SP2, how view preview pane in newsgroups WITHOUT usingit for Inbox mail?

I recall that before SP 2, I was able to view newsgroup messages with a
preview pane and simultaneously keep my view of Inbox mail with NO preview
pane.

Is it possible to do that with SP 2?

If not, may I request consideration of the option to view the preview pane
differentially between newsgroup and Inbox mail in a future update?

Hi Norm,
you're right, the SP2 update changed Entourage's behaviour in that aspect:
it no longer allows you to have different preview pane settings for
different accounts (local folders, IMAP folders, newsgroups etc.) so I'm
afraid it's an all or nothing situation. Also, it's no longer possible to
mix different preview pane settings, such as having it below the e-mail list
for one account and right to the list in another. A couple of users have
already complained about this, so I'm sure the MacBU knows by now.

However, let's not forget that it's a very simple matter of pressing cmd-\
or cmd-shift-\ to change the position of the PP, or remove it, when you go
to another location. It's not really such a big deal, is it?

I don't know how it got changed - if it was almost by accident, so that they
can put it back easily - or if there's some reason why other features
require this consistency now.

For anybody from Microsoft's Mac BU reading this, please restore the pre-SP2
preview pane differentiation in the next update if that feature was removed
by accident.

Thanks for the reminder on the keyboard shortcuts.

"Not really such a big deal," however, depends in part on whether or not you
have arthritic fingers. I do. Because I prefer the preview pane below, a
three-key keyboard shortcut is required: shift-command-\.

The \ key requires touch typists to look at the keyboard. And that adds to
an interruption in the process of switching between inbox mail and
newsgroups, an interruption that was not present before SP2.

Respectfully, Norm
