In 2004... Unchecked "Animate Icon"... Still bounces and annoys me

I probably misunderstand, but I would expect that unchecking the ³animate
icon² notification option would free me from the bouncing E in the dock.

Any way to stop it?

Is that what Ken was asking about when he said it notifies him of new
messages?

I really like the little panel that comes up with the incoming mail. Can¹t
that be all that happens?

No?

Yes, as far as notifying you about new mail. But it will still bounce if
there's an error (server error generally) in downloading.

Yes, turn off "Animate icon" in prefs. You'll still get the badge, and
you'll still get bouncing when there's a mail error.

Sure wish you could turn off ALL bouncing. I hate it on all programs. Aren¹t
a sound alert and a dialog alert sufficient? It should be my call anyway.
