My previous website files ended with html, publisher 2007 default renames
them to htm . This is creating a problem in reaching and linking the pages

When you Publish to the Web and get to the "Save" dialog, and get the
"index.htm" default file name, change the extension...add an "l", and the
home page and all other pages in the index_files folder will have the *html
extension. And no, there is no way to change the default to *html.

FWIW if you write the link http://www.yourwebpage.com/ ,the browser will
automatically load either index.htm or index.html...whichever it finds.

There's absolutely no difference between .html or .htm extensions, except if
your host server requires one or the other for the index page. IOW your
server may need .html for the index but all others can be .htm.
