In Excel, counting multiple criteria

I am working on a spreadsheet re: attendance tracking for training. I need to
count by region (one column) how many attended, declined, cancelled (all data
in another column). The formula found on web help does not exactly match my
requirements (results in formula error) and my edits keep resulting in
errors, as well.

Excuse the late response, but I just wanted to thank you for taking the time
to respond to my post. I can't tell you how much time you saved for me, not
