In MS Word 03, Code appears in tables and in Date

For years, I have used some documents that contain tables, and contain
formulas for things like todays date. In "Normal", or "print layout" they
have always appeared just as they do when printed. Now, suddenly, they all
appear as code, such as

{DATE \@ "MMMM d, yyyy"

The only way I can see how the final document will look is to call up Print
Preview. How do I get the old appearance back?

Option 1: Select everything by CTRL+A and from contextual menu (right mouse
click) pick toggle fields codes

Option 2: press ALT+F9

Hope this helps :)

Thank you. That did it.

Now I'm curious about how I changed it in the first place.

A will tryy to explain as Ihave 10 min to board my plane:)))
my guss is that you accidently press the alt+F9. Every time yoou
insert stuff like date/time, page number, table of content andso on,
you see the text, however, word uses a field to operate with this
stuff {you see the text but word work with the code-the one you have
already seen}.
Why?
if you insert date next time you open the word document your date
would be displaying the curreent date - becauseit is not text but
field which words remembers to updat. If you want to see which stuff
is in the field navigate to tools-options andd check there shadow
fiels. Sorry but this keyboard is quite hard to operate. I will try to
goback if possible.
