In Notebook, text does not snap to lines

I know this topic has been addressed in a few other threads, but no answers have come out of any of them except for "you must be stupid, don't change the formatting" or "help is on the way"

From the very first document I opened in Notebook layout, the text would not snap to the "notebook" lines; it looked like it was set to 1.5 spacing or something. I didn't mess with any fonts or spacings or other settings; it just was like that when I opened the program.

Any ideas on how to fix it?

well, see if this helps--I'm not sure it will, but you can undo it the
same way if you don't like it.

To eliminate space between paragraphs this in all documents created from
now on, change the Normal style.

First, select Format | Style. Normal should be selected.

Click on Modify--make sure "add to template" is CHECKED. You'll see a
Format menu in the bottom of the dialog--select Paragraph from it, and
change the Spacing: After setting from 10 to 0.

Hi Daiya -

I'm interested in what the OP comes back with, but I'm not sure it will make
any difference. Notebook Layout uses the Note Level 1-9 styles by default
which are based on Normal style but include the "don't add" attrib for paras
of the same style.

I don't doubt that the OP is having the problem, but I think it's gonna take
a closer look at the document I question to determine what's causing it.
I've kinda held back here because of the way the inquiry was phrased, since
I don't have much to offer other than what s/he evidently doesn't want to
hear. I'd be curious, however, as to whether " ...first document I opened in
Notebook layout" refers to a previously existing doc *converted* to NB or a
*new* doc created in that view - that could make a significant difference.

It wasn't a previous document, it was a brand new one.

Daiya, I tried looking for the Format/Style thing you mentioned; the only options I have under Format are "Font," "Bullets and Numbering," "Borders and Shading," and "Change Case." Am I looking in the wrong place?
